Illustrated manuscript in German, 441 pages with more than 44 drawings, charts, and text illustrations, recounting the travels and adventures of Alfonso Koels through Texas and Mexico. It includes detailed descriptions and illustrations of the topography, flora, fauna, inhabitants, structures, and sociology of the area. There are extensive sketches of San Antonio and its environs. Drawings range from pencil sketches of landscapes to complex architectural drawings. Subjects include portraits of Indians, Texans, and Mexicans, and their material culture, customs, and homes, scenery of the American Southwest and Mexico, animals, caves, and official buildings and residences.
